The Duke Blue Devils came out strong but faded in the second half in a 34-16 loss to the Miami Hurricanes.
Duke actually held a 13-10 halftime lead and looked like they might pull it out and reach bowl eligibility.
Then came the second half, more specifically the fourth quarter. After trading field goals in the third quarter, Miami scored 21 unanswered points to roll to the victory.
Duke’s defense, which has been suspect all season, finally came unglued with the game on the line.
The Blue Devils will have to win their season finale if they want to go bowling for the first time in nearly a decade.

The Duke Blue Devils were blown off the field in a 49-10 loss to the No. 7 Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets.
A win would have kept Duke barely alive in the Coastal Division title hunt, but an early score was all the team could muster.
Duke’s struggling defense simply had no answer for that potent Georgia Tech ground attack.
They gave up a combined 35 points in the second and third quarters to turn what was a respectable score into a rout.
The Blue Devils still have a chance to reach a bowl game if they can win their final two games of the season.

The Duke Blue Devils could not keep up their winning ways in a 19-6 loss to the North Carolina Tar Heels.
While the football rivalry between these two schools gets little notice compared to the hardwood version, it is still pretty intense.
This was probably Duke’s best chance in some time to knock off the rival Tar Heels, but North Carolina protected their home turf.
Duke managed just two first half field goals, which isn’t going to cut it with their mediocre defense.
The loss severely hampered any hopes of an ACC championship game berth for Duke, as far-fetched as that may have seemed.

The Duke Blue Devils pulled off yet another surprise in a 28-17 win over the host Virginia Cavaliers.
The game was certainly in the balance after the third quarter, as a Virginia touchdown game them a one-point lead.
Duke’s offense took control from there, putting 19 points on the scoreboard and helping them pull away from the Cavaliers.
The win puts Duke in the thick of the ACC Coastal division race, but a Georgia Tech loss will be necessary if they hope to reach the conference championship game.
Even still, Duke will get to play in a bowl if they can manage to win two more games.
