The Duke Blue Devils moved closer to a potential bowl berth with a 17-13 win over the Maryland Terrapins.
Duke had the lead the entire game, yet it never seemed safe. It took a couple of late Maryland turnovers to seal the win.
It also didn’t help that Duke’s usual sparse crowd was even smaller because of rain that fell throughout the game.
Nonetheless, the Blue Devils are just one game out of first place in the loss column in the Coastal Division.

The Duke basketball team hasn’t reached the Final Four since 2004 and has not won a national championship since 2001.
For most programs, such a drought would actually be something to brag about, not something that would be held above their heads. However, Duke isn’t any other program.
Coach K has been honest about his disappointment in recent teams while also stating that those players did their best and should be commended for their efforts.
The head coach is confident and excited about his future recruiting class, which should be one of the best in the country. One of those recruits includes a point guard considered the best out of New Jersey since Jason Williams.
Coach K believes that the incoming group of players will put Duke back in the running to sit among the nation’s elite when it comes to basketball programs.

The Duke Blue Devils continued to show that they are more than just a basketball school following a 49-28 pasting of the North Carolina State Wolfpack.
Yes, you read that score correctly. The Blue Devils marched up and down the field on the road against one of their main rivals.
It seems like head coach David Cutcliffe is beginning put his stamp on Duke’s formerly beleaguered offense.
On the other side, the Wolfpack and their fans have to be downright embarassed watching that happen on their home field.

The Duke Blue Devils didn’t concede anything but simply didn’t have the talent to take down Virginia Tech in a 34-26 loss.
Duke jumped out early with the first touchdown of the game to put the Hokies on notice that they weren’t just going to roll over.
Even when the Hokies came right back to tie the game, Duke never really flinched. They trailed just 17-10 at the half and were only outscored by one point in the second half.
Putting up 26 points against a stingy Hokies defense that held down Miami last week is pretty impressive.

Duke nearly upset No. 6 Virginia Tech on Saturday in an ACC slugfest, where VT’s Tyrod Taylor threw for a career-best 329 yards and two touchdowns in a 34-26 victory.
VT’s Josh Oglesby broke off two late TD runs for the Hokies, as the game blew open offensively in the fourth quarter. Earlier, Taylor chucked a 36-yard TD to Danny Coale and a 28-yarder to Jarrett Boykin.
“I know we have a lot of talent on the offensive side of the ball,” Taylor said. “It’s just my job to get the ball to them.”
Duke’s QB Thaddeus Lewis finished 22 of 40 for 359 yards with two TD passes, including a 4-yard connection to Austin Kelly with 25 seconds left. However, the Blue Devils settled for four field goals from Will Snyderline throughout the game, leaving Lewis upset at the offense’s inability to punch the ball into the end zone.
“We needed to get seven points, and we didn’t do that,” Lewis said. “But three points is better than no points.”
